This book is a historical novel describing the period from the Sui and Tang Dynasties. The story begins with Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty in Pingchen and finally the unification of Emperor Taizong of Tang.The stories of the Tang Dynasty heroes such as Qin Qiong (Qin Shubao), Cheng Yaojin, Luo Cheng, Yu Chigong, etc., are deeply spread among the people.For example: Qin Qiong sells horses, Cheng Yaojin's Three Axes, etc., are all well-known, and later became some famous excerpts in Pingju opera.This book is generally believed to have been produced during the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty. The earliest engraved edition is the sixty-eight chapters of Guimao (1783) in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, titled Yuanhu Fisherman's revision.Later, it was changed to sixty-six chapters by Chen Ruheng of the Qing Dynasty.
