Chapter 1 Revision Notes

Millennium sigh 余秋雨 694Words 2023-02-05
Revision Notes Since the second day after the September 11th incident, I have received many letters and calls from readers at home and abroad, affirming that this book pointed out the location of the most terrifying area in the world earlier, and issued a warning with concern.Koreans and Japanese quickly translated what was apparently too thick a book, claiming it was an Asian discovery. When answering interviews on this issue, I always say: It doesn’t take a high level to say where is the most dangerous area in the world.Any cultural person, as long as he does not take his own life too seriously, as long as he puts down those so-called academic concepts that deceive himself and others, and opens his eyes to look at it, he will come to similar conclusions. The result of my investigation that I value more is that I have gained a new understanding of Chinese civilization from the comparison.

I reconsidered Chinese civilization in the mountains of Nepal after I had gone all the way through the horror. After all, these thoughts are just half-way thoughts, not profound, but I want to use this to call for a certain kind of induction from my compatriots at home and abroad, and then put in more in-depth thinking together. What makes me happy is that there are obviously quite a few people who respond. For example, I was surprised to see on TV that Mr. Huang Jianhua solemnly recommended this book to the people of Hong Kong at least twice. This book has been published both at home and abroad. The mainland version is in simplified Chinese characters, and the first edition has sold 500,000 copies. Now that so many copies have been printed, I can't help but read the book again with respect for the reader. When rereading, I found some places that should be revised.

I have been reluctant to change it before.Because for me, these words written every day in the trenches of the near death are precious even if they are rough. But I can't ignore the readers, and I hope I can clear up some textual bumps for them in the reprint. This pimple is mainly manifested in two aspects. One is that the writing is hasty, and often says a lot in one breath, forgetting to divide and adjust the rhythm; Therefore, this revision mainly focuses on segmentation and deletion, so that readers can read it more clearly in the future. For the record.Once again, my heartfelt thanks to my readers.
