Chapter 1 Author's Preface
Author's Preface
Although I did not have the privilege of experiencing Hitler's Holocaust, I have lived in New York for many years with refugees who have experienced it.Therefore, I am eager to say that this novel is by no means the story of a typical refugee, not his life experience and struggling experience.Like most of my fiction, this one offers a special story through a few unique characters and unique combinations of events. The characters in the book are victims not only of the Nazis, but of their own personalities and fates. If these characters correspond to the general, it is because the particular is contained in the general. In fact, the particular in literature is the general.
The novel was first published in 1966 in the Jewish Forward Journal.By Aliza.Chevron and Elizabeth.Shubu translated into English, and by the latter and Rachel.Mackenzie, Robert.Giroux two for editing.
Thank you all of them.
