Chapter 1 Author's Preface

What happened to the Japanese submarines? What combat activities did they engage in? The strategy pursued by Japan in World War II was old and conservative. In this war, Japan did not have a detailed battle plan at all, and despised science. In this case, the submarine, which is often at great risk, must become a destined victim. As we all know, only by being good at using submarines can its losses be reduced. But throughout the war, the Japanese submarine fleet was actually a special assault force that did not have perfect weapons and used the crew as human bombs. At present, people are talking to us about rearmament, and if money is to be spent on equipment, it must be spent well.We must rely on the achievements of modern science to develop weapons.Henceforth, if we only have bamboo spears, we should never take part in wars.

Although the Japanese submarine fleet has been completely wiped out, the immortal spirit left by the sailors in various vast oceans is still alive in our hearts. We should always remember those fearless warriors who lay buried in the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean, and their voices are still heard from the depths of the sea to your ears from time to time. It is for this reason that I, the lucky submarine captain, took up my pen and told people the few known facts, the hardships and achievements of Japanese submarines. During the last six months, I have traveled the country interviewing former colleagues who are still alive to gather information for this book.

Here, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the representatives of the U.S. naval authorities stationed in the Far East, as well as the former Japanese Combined Fleet Commander, Mr. Miyatoyoda Fubutake, his chief of staff, Mr. Mr. Xinqi, the representative of the Reporting Department of the Daily News newspaper, expressed his gratitude. Yoshimoto Hashimoto The Japanese submarine fought bravely despite the difficult conditions at the time.Hashimoto, a former navy captain, gave a true account of this tragic historical fact. The author has assembled a wealth of material that is undoubtedly invaluable, and I would therefore like to recommend this excellent book to readers.
