When he was a teenager, although there were no famous mountains and temples in Hong Kong, he also liked to go to temples, big and small, and sit in front of Baoxiang's solemn Buddha statue for a long time.At that time, I didn't know what to think, but in the hall of Buddha, my heart would feel extremely peaceful.

He is a frequent visitor to the monastery, and this habit, even after he has been a policeman for more than ten years, is still the same, so that in the temple, it can be said that there is a place for him, an outsider (just a layman), to stay. special situation and it is from this special situation that everything began. He was not particularly outstanding in his studies until he joined the police force. Although he was promoted to a higher position after serving in the police force for many years, he was still an ordinary person, but he had a special tendency towards Buddhism, so , I spent a lot of time in the temple, and, in the Buddhist hall, I also started to think.

At the beginning of thinking, it came from what he saw and heard in his police career. The police career is colorful, and the dark side of life that I come into contact with is particularly sharp and easy to think about. It's very interesting. According to legend, there has long been a saying that it is easy to practice among the Gongmen. Finally, after more than ten years in the police force, he made a concluding prayer in the Buddha Hall. He expressed his wish wholeheartedly to the Bodhisattvas in the heavens with a sincere heart. It cannot be said that Chen Hanrong (Guo Qi) had no impact on the police career of more than ten years.The fact is: from youth to middle age, he was associated with police work.

During the years when he was growing up, he faced more crimes than ordinary people, saw more rape and robbery, sinister and deceitful, terrifying people, and difficult facts of life. Facts, I have seen so many facts of tyranny imposed on kindness, I have seen the facts of how many people survive humiliation, I have seen the facts of many people who do not know self-love, and I have seen the facts of many people who have lost their true nature. These experiences can make people numb, can make people sigh, can make people see through the world situation, and can also make people think and think again.

Everyone's reaction will not be the same.Chen Guoqi was puzzled at first, but then entered the stage of thinking. He felt that life is so difficult. In addition to the natural sufferings of birth, old age, illness, and death, there are many man-made sufferings. He is different from other people who are passionate about Buddhism in that he not only contacts the classics, but also contacts the Buddha in temples. In the hall of the Buddha, surrounded by cigarette smoke, before the majesty of the treasure, he felt the real existence of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. The belief in worshiping Buddhas was not something illusory to Chen Guoqi, but a real thing.

That is to say, he firmly believes that Buddha is merciful and rescues suffering and suffering. It is not just a few or dozens of scriptures that are recited, but should have a kind of power to truly save suffering and rescue suffering. He has this kind of confidence and feels that it is the main purpose of Buddhism. He intends to become a Buddhist, exert the boundless power of Buddhism, and do his best to eliminate suffering for the world. Chen Guoqi's idea is quite special. Needless to say, ordinary Buddhists, even if they are intellectuals who have a deep study of Buddhism, there are many Chinese intellectuals in the past dynasties who have turned to Buddhism. The great Tang Dynasty poet Wang Wei even called himself Mojie. There are also many people who worship the Buddha, which has become a kind of custom.

However, the vast majority are only at the stage of studying Buddhism, studying Buddhism as a broad and profound philosophy, trying to find out the mysteries of life in Buddhism, even if they cannot let the public know, as long as they get it Once comprehended, it becomes a very high state. People of this kind who worship the Buddha mostly regard themselves as arhats as their highest goal. They naturally understand the truth of life's suffering as mentioned by the Buddha, but they only hope that they can escape the sea of ​​suffering and reach the other shore.Never make a big wish, but turn the principles of Buddhism into the Dharma, the power of the Buddha, and do your best for the world.

That is naturally a method of worshiping the Buddha, and there is absolutely no derogatory meaning. Everyone can do it according to their own ideas. Buddhism is vast. According to the principles of Buddhism, it is a great thing to have a Buddha in your heart. Buddhism does not require those who worship the Buddha to do this. , must do that, never. What worshipers do is their own business. And those who are more sincere, go a step further, simply see through the world of mortals, cut off their hair and become monks, and truly become Buddhist monks. That is naturally a further step in practice, unlike the previous category, the practice of monks is the actual work of transcending the souls of the dead. To a certain extent, contact with supernatural forces is the use of Buddhist powers. However, I never heard that the eminent monk who came to the temple would specifically solve the suffering of a certain person for him. What I mean is: people in Buddhism, whether they are high or low, are engaged in more theoretical research and less in practical work. Perhaps, engaging in theoretical research has a lofty goal, to spread the principles of Buddhism to all mankind, so that the hearts of all mankind can be freed from suffering, and to build a bridge on both sides of the sea of ​​suffering, so that all living beings do not have to suffer Ups and downs in the bitter sea, but through a smooth road, directly to the other shore. This ideal is of course extremely great. Moreover, people with Buddhist beliefs are also confident that they can do it. Otherwise, there would not be so many people doing the same thing for more than two thousand years. As for practical work, of course, we must do practical things, that is, for individual people who are suffering, not only to comfort him spiritually, but also to actually free him from suffering. There are many stories in Buddhist scriptures. Yes, since the Buddha, all the Bodhisattvas of the heavens have had this kind of specific act of saving suffering and suffering, showing great compassion. However, this kind of practical act of saving suffering and suffering people from difficult situations according to the Buddhist teachings and Buddhist powers has been rarely seen recently. Is it because Buddhists think it is a trivial matter, so why not do it?Or is there no such ability, so can't actually do it? I believe that Master Chen Guoqi, when he first made a confession in the Buddhist hall or in front of the Buddha statue, he may not have thought so much in theory, he just felt eagerly that he should do something, and he did not have the strength to do those things at all. That's why I pray to the Buddha and Bodhisattva, and ask the Buddha and Bodhisattva to give him strength. There must be many people who have done the same behavior: praying for strength from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. There have also been examples of successful receiving blessings from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas except for Chen Guoqi. There is a very important point: piety, incomparable piety. When Chen Guoqi prayed for the first time, Buddhism was not only an idol, but in his mind, it was a real Buddha, a Buddha with great supernatural powers, and a Buddha with boundless magic power. Buddha to him. Based on this sincere belief, he made a confession and told the Buddha and Bodhisattva his wish. A few years later, Chen Guoqi already possessed great power of Buddhism, and based on the power of Buddhism, he did many things to ward off disasters and relieve catastrophes, and rescued many people from suffering. He recalled the situation when he made a wish in front of the Buddha, and he still felt quite Excited, because, after all, that was the beginning of his real exposure to Buddhism. At that time, he was working in the serious crime team of the Tsuen Wan Police Station, and the temple he often visited was the Nan Tianzhu Temple in Tsuen Wan. After thinking for a long time, he was full of anger at the many inequalities in the world, and was depressed because he wanted to help others but could not do so. He looked up at Guanyin Bodhisattva and said: Bodhisattva, I believe that Buddha has spirituality. Give me strength, let me feel the power of Buddha, if I have the power of Buddha, I will help the world forever.I don't want the world to suffer, but I hope to uphold justice for the world. Chen Guoqi said that when he was a teenager, he was very attached to the actions of heroes, and imagined that he could become a hero and eradicate injustice in the world.The benevolent and righteous deeds done by the heroes are different from the Buddhism's salvation of sentient beings, although there is a difference in degree, but the heart of helping others is basically the same. When Chen Guoqi prayed in this way before the merciful and compassionate Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, he combined his childhood fantasy of being a hero with his sincerity to Buddha and Bodhisattva. But at that time, he naturally did not think that what he wanted to achieve was very consistent with the practice of supernatural powers and Buddhist teachings of Tantric Buddhism. Later, he entered the hall of Tantric Buddhism from Xianzong, and at this time, the opportunity had already been laid down.Naturally, the greater possibility is that he already had a mysterious connection with Tantra, but he himself didn't know it at the time. This mysterious situation, which has long been connected with Tantra, was gradually confirmed in the process of his transition from superficial to secret. At the beginning, even he himself was surprised!It turns out that there is such a cause and effect!But when the truth came out and the truth came out, he suddenly realized: So it is! All these wonderful experiences will be revealed below. That day, after he expressed his wish in front of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, although he had 100% self-confidence, it was still unknown whether his wish could be realized. He recalled in a very calm tone: At that time, after making the wish, he felt peaceful and serene, as if he had immediately received the answer from the Bodhisattva. This incident happened in the South Tianzhu Temple in Quanwan. He still continues to work as a police officer, but whenever he has free time, he goes to temples and spends time with monks. He also often does temple work, and even helps cook vegetarian dishes and other rough work. He just felt that when he was in the temple, his mood was indescribably peaceful, and in front of the Buddha statue, he was indescribably lively and comfortable. He can even have a small room in the temple, which is a privilege given to him by the temple master because he is pious. In that small world, he worships the Buddha and recites scriptures. He has not shaved his hair, but he is already a layman practicing with hair.Such days were spent in peace, and about a month after leaving him to make a wish, something happened suddenly. It can be said that this incident changed the life of police officer Chen Hanrong. And this incident did not happen by accident. It seemed accidental at the time, but when I looked back later, I realized that it was inevitable. Inevitability didn't even start when he made a wish in front of the Bodhisattva, but a long, long time ago. Apart from that, he would never take the second path.Therefore, the literary statement that changed his life is actually not very appropriate.It should be said: This incident is the beginning of Chen Guoqi's inevitable path, the first step taken. That day, when he was still in the small world of the temple, the monk came to him suddenly: Layman Chen, a family came to you and asked you to help them. Chen Jushi himself was also baffled, he didn't know what happened, and while speaking, he had seen an old woman in her early 60s and less than 70s, and her three family members, a total of four people. The old woman said: Master Chen?You have to save me, I have worked so hard to find you, you must help me!Chen Guoqi at that time was not as famous as he was a few years later.He worshiped the Buddha and meditated in a temple in Tsuen Wan, few people knew about it, not to mention that old lady who had never met before, how could he come to him, let alone, it was very hard to find him? But it is always something to be happy when someone comes to you. He first asks: How do you know me?The old woman hesitated: it was introduced by a friend. At that time, it was naturally inconvenient to find out which friend it was, and the old lady's condition was extremely poor, so anyone with a discerning eye could tell right away. So Chen Guoqi asked: Grandma, what can I do for you? The old woman panted: I beg you to heal me. I am very ill and cannot be cured for a long time. You must save me! The old woman's family also interceded: Layman Chen, I beg you to save her. She has been ill for a long time and has been weary of the world for several times. She has a heart of Buddha, please help her! Chen Guoqi was both surprised and happy when he heard that, he was very happy that someone came to ask him to help all living beings and overcome difficulties, which was exactly his wish.Surprisingly, how can I have such power. After seeing the situation of the old woman, it is clear that her health is extremely poor, this is a matter of life and death, how can she agree indiscriminately? Therefore, Chen Guoqi's reaction was very normal. He said to the old woman and his family: I am not a doctor, and I don't know how to heal illnesses. This granny is sick, so she should go to a doctor! The old woman and her family sighed in unison: If the doctor had done a good job, he wouldn't have come to see you!Chen Guoqi insisted: I really don't know how to heal patients, did I find the wrong temple?In other temples, there are lay Buddhists who can heal the sick, who also happens to be named Chen, right? The old woman also insisted: It must be you! Chen Guoqi was surprised: Who told you to come here? The old woman still hesitated, only said that it was introduced by a friend, and she begged bitterly. Chen Guoqi asked tentatively: Grandma, what's wrong with you? The old woman's answer made Chen Guoqi smile bitterly.Her answer was: Asthma often attacks, even if it does not attack, there is no comfortable place in the whole body, but the pain is so painful that I don't want to live! It turned out to be a sick old woman! Chen Guoqi still wanted to decline, but he couldn't bear the old woman's pleading anymore. He thought to himself: I don't know how to treat illnesses, or at least I can give her some psychological comfort.She came from a long way, if she returns disappointed, it will only make her condition worse, it will not be good for her. What Chen Guoqi thought again was: I don't know how to cure diseases, but the temple is the palace of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. The Buddha Dharma is boundless, and Buddhas and Bodhisattvas can naturally relieve the suffering of all living beings. Therefore, Chen Guoqi began to practice his first medical treatment with religious faith. He asked the old woman to sit down.Then he took a glass of water in his hand and prayed silently: the disciple has no strength, and the Bodhisattva is above. I hope that after the disciple recites the scriptures, this glass of water will become Dharma water, which can relieve the pain of this grandma after drinking it. The Bodhisattva is merciful and will definitely Can fulfill the disciple's wish. Then, he said to the old woman: Grandma, you drank this glass of water. When he said this, Chen Guoqi was not sure, and he didn't know if the other party drank the cup of water that he had prayed to the Bodhisattva, and whether he really had divine magic power, which could make the old woman cured of her illness with water. . Nor did he intend to deceive the old woman. He really put his heart and soul into it when he prayed.I hope it can really relieve the suffering of the sick old woman. The situation at that time was: the old woman who came to ask for help seemed to be more confident than him! (I have had a similar experience in this situation: once, when a clergyman was asked to pray for a miracle, the clergyman expressed no confidence, but I was sure it would be possible.) (As a result, a miracle occurred.) Chen Guoqi believed that he had the ability to act on behalf of a Bodhisattva, not to mention the first time, after several times, he still felt that he was not sure every time, so every time before casting the spell, he was very nervous, lest this time it would not work, Or lest it won't work next time.This is the reason he later sought further sources of magical powers. It's not that he didn't have confidence in the Bodhisattva's supernatural power at that time, but he felt that he couldn't grasp this incredible supernatural power very accurately, so he wanted to keep improving so that he could make great achievements. If he didn't have such a mentality, After forming the process of his further studies, he will not have the achievements he has today. This is a later story, but it is said that at that time, the old woman drank the glass of water, sat for a while, and suddenly asked: Layman, is there a white stone pagoda near this temple?Why can't I find it no matter how hard I look? Chen Guoqi was startled: White Stone Pagoda?He didn't know what the old woman was referring to, but he just pointed to a corner of the room: there is a white tower here!It was a decoration, a small stupa of the patriarch who founded the mountain, white. At that moment, the old woman showed a very surprised expression, and her emotions also seemed agitated. Chen Guoqi didn't know what she was doing, so she didn't go any further. After he drank the glass of water for the old woman, he thought it was Dharma water and holy water, his confidence increased greatly, and he wanted to test whether he could really have the supernatural power of Buddhism, at least he could heal people's diseases. He wanted to take further action, but he really didn't know how to do it, so he had no choice but to learn by himself, thinking about what should be done, and doing as he thought. This situation is quite interesting, and it also illustrates a problem. At that time, Chen Guoqi actually possessed supernatural powers. The development of future events proved this point, but he didn't know what form to use to display his supernatural powers. In other words, he didn't know whether he should burn amulets and chant mantras, hold a mahogany sword, or chant scriptures and dance, put on robes, and hold magic tools. He didn't know it at all, but he knew that there should be some action. Therefore, the movements he made, which he thought he should do, may be completely out of specification. In this case, it can be proved that when performing supernatural powers, what is important is not the various rituals, but the sincerity of the caster, and more importantly, the caster must indeed have supernatural powers and supernatural abilities. Various ceremonies are just subsidies, not the main one. This is very important. Supernatural abilities are so wonderful that they must be able to be displayed if they perform the rituals. Doesn’t everyone just need to follow the rituals to have supernatural abilities appear. Of course not! At that moment, Chen Guoqi ordered the old woman to close her eyes. He stretched out his hand and thought to himself: I stretch out my hand to act on behalf of the Bodhisattva. As he thought about it, he recited the mantras he was familiar with. The Buddhist mantras that he came into contact with on a daily basis were not Tantric mantras.Generally speaking, the Buddhist mantras of Xianzong are relatively general, and a kind of Buddhist mantra can have a wide range of effects.The tantric mantras are very finely classified, and a mantra is specifically aimed at a phenomenon.Therefore, there are so many Buddhist mantras in Tantric Buddhism, and those who do not practice Tantric Dharma are not allowed to hear them. On the other end of the phone, came the old woman's voice, sounding a bit hesitant: I don't think there is any special improvement, it seems to be better, but it is still the same. At that time, Chen Guoqi naturally had nothing to say, the spell he cast was ineffective, so what else could he say? But he could hear the flickering of the old woman's words, as if there was something unfinished, and he didn't say it.So, he asked a question: Is there really no improvement at all? Only then did Chen Guoqi feel relieved, and knew in his heart that something wonderful was happening, so he instructed: You recite the holy name of Guanyin Bodhisattva more often, sleep peacefully every night, and don't think about it. The old woman only agreed, and from the tone of the old woman's promise, it could be heard that she was much relieved. In this case, I don’t need to see, but to sense, because it is different from seeing the same thing in ordinary times, and it is more reasonable to use feeling, although to the sensed person, feeling is the same as feeling. see the same. There are many people together, some people see a certain phenomenon, but others cannot see it, the few people who saw it actually sensed it.In this case, the gods and Buddhas that were sensed were not only the golden armor god who touched the old woman's head, but also a well-known Bodhisattva, which will be mentioned in detail below. After that phone call, for about a month or so, Chen Guoqi couldn't get immediate results due to his own spellcasting, so he couldn't help but worry about it at first, and then gradually forgot about it. Suddenly one day, he was still worshiping the Buddha in the temple, someone was carrying fruits and gifts, making a noise, looking for Layman Chen, Chen Guoqi looked at it, vaguely recognized that he had only seen the old woman before, and at that time, the old woman was full of faces The sick face is now radiant. When the old woman saw Chen Guoqi, she smiled and thanked her endlessly. Standing in front of Chen Guoqi, she said calmly: Look, how energetic I am now, Layman Chen, don't you recognize me?i came here to thank you At that moment, Chen Guoqi only felt heat all over his body, a kind of magical power flowing through his whole body, it was an indescribable feeling.It took him quite a while to gather his composure before he could answer the old woman. What he said was: You don't need to thank me, I really don't know how to heal diseases.If your illness is cured, if it is not a coincidence, then the Bodhisattva has manifested supernatural powers, and Buddhism has driven away your illness. You should thank the Bodhisattva! The old lady still thanked her again and again, so she naturally went to the Buddhist hall, bowed her head in front of the Bodhisattva statue, and offered incense to express her gratitude. At this time, Chen Guoqi was naturally inexplicably happy, it was the common mood of anyone who achieved success for the first time, not to mention that his success this time broke through the scope of the human world and entered the supernatural realm! At the same time, he was also very curious, because he had never mentioned to anyone that he had a wish to use the power of Buddha to eliminate suffering for all living beings, and he had never told anyone about the fact that he could practice Dharma to cure diseases. Until then, Although the old lady had recovered, Chen Guoqi still thought it was a fluke. Therefore, when the old woman came to seek medical treatment last time, he hesitated and said that it was introduced by a friend, and he has always been suspicious. He asked the old woman: You said that a friend introduced you to come to see me. Who is this friend?How could he know that I can heal diseases?How could he know the ability that even I don't know?That must be an expert, if you tell me, I want to get acquainted too! The old woman finally answered after asking all the time, and her answer was earth-shattering: Did the Bodhisattva tell me to come to you? Chen Guoqi was stunned for a while. It was a miracle that the old woman was able to recover, but the old woman came to her door and was guided by a Bodhisattva. Doesn't that mean that not only did he have a Buddha in his heart, but the Buddha and Bodhisattva also knew that there was a mortal like him? For a moment, Chen Guoqi didn't know how to react. He looked at the old woman, desperately wanting to know what was going on, but he was so excited that he didn't know how to react. Seeing this situation, the old woman thought that he didn't believe her words, so she hastily argued: Layman Chen, it's true. In front of the Bodhisattva, I dare not tell lies. It is indeed Guanyin Bodhisattva who guided me here! It is not only Bodhisattva's guidance, but also specifically pointed out that it is Avalokitesvara.Chen Guoqi took a deep breath, tried to calm himself down, and asked the old lady for details. It turned out that a few days before the old woman went to the temple for the first time, asked to see Jushi Chen by name, and begged for her medical treatment, she and her family went to visit the Guanyin Temple on Lantau Island. The old woman wished in front of Guanyin: I was so painful that I tried to die several times but failed.The Bodhisattva was very merciful, either to let me recover from my illness, or to let me be liberated! The old woman had such a blessing, so we know that she is suffering from all kinds of illnesses, and she is really suffering inexplicably. Otherwise, the old woman has a certain reverence for the Bodhisattva. Even if she is not a Buddhist, Guanyin is in the eyes of ordinary people, especially in the eyes of women. They are all objects of worship, and their popularity is even greater than that of Westerners' worship of Jesus Christ. Try to see that in the West, although Catholicism and Christianity are prevalent, there are also many jokes that use God and Jesus as themes.But in China, you can't find any jokes that use Guanyin as the subject.From this we can see that this Bodhisattva who saves suffering and suffering with great compassion has a very lofty status in the hearts of all living beings.If the old woman was not really desperate, she would not dare to pray for death in front of Avalokitesvara. The miracle happened on the night after Zhu Gao, the old woman saw Guanyin in her dream. In the dream, Guanyin Bodhisattva did not reveal his identity, but the old woman in the dream knew that it was Guanyin Bodhisattva as soon as she saw it. Here, two more issues are raised, which are worth discussing. First, the old lady visited the Guanyin Temple during the day and dreamed of Guanyin at night. According to scientists, it must be that she thinks about it every day and dreams at night, which is not surprising.In fact, scientists understand why people have dreams, and why many dreams reflect things that the dreamer has never thought of.Why sometimes, the fragments in the dream will actually happen in real life in the future and other strange phenomena, which cannot be explained in any way!
