Chapter 2 Taiwanese preface

The book New Outlook on Life was published in Chongqing during the most difficult period of the Anti-Japanese War in the 31st year of the Republic of China.Every time a book is reprinted, it is often impossible for readers to buy it after two or three weeks.As of one year after the victory, there were 27 editions in total, including those printed by the Commercial Press in Chongqing, Ganzhou, and Shanghai, and reprinted in Qingdao and Tianjin.When Mr. Wang Yunwu was still in charge of the business, he once said that the sales of this book broke the record of any book except textbooks and dictionaries in the business for more than 40 years.I have nothing but deep gratitude for the enthusiastic encouragement my readers have given me.

I was particularly moved by the fact that a primary school teacher in the north of Helan Mountain in Ningxia Province and a person serving in the army in western Guizhou, because they could not get this book, each copied a copy by hand.After seeing the transcript, I couldn't help sweating. Since I came to Taiwan, many friends have asked me about this book; some of them are written by young friends who have never met before.Now that the commercial presses on the mainland are getting closer, naturally they will not print my books anymore; the previous royalty contract was not fulfilled by the other party about a year before the fall of Shanghai, and I naturally have no obligation to him.Now that I plan to print my own books, or dispose of the printing rights of these books, there is no doubt about it.
